Jack F Townsend, V is an associate attorney at Scherer & Marx PLLC. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from University of Miami, School of Law in 2017 with a JD and an LLM in international Law. In Jack’s final semester he received the Roger Sorino Award for Leadership, Dedication, and Service. This prestigious award is given to only one third year law student each year. Jack was chosen as the recipient for 2017 for his contributions to the law school community, his passion for academia, and his dedication to mentoring of first year law school students.
While at UM Law, Jack assisted three of UM’s professors, including Michael H Graham, as part of the Dean’s Fellow Program in the areas of torts and constitutional law. Jack was given the opportunity to serve as a Dean’s Fellow five times during his tenure at University of Miami.
Jack also had the opportunity to work for two non-profit legal clinics operating under University of Miami’s Historic Black Church Program. While there, he worked on high profile cases such as the ‘Old Smokey’ class-action lawsuit.
Jack also worked for the State of Florida in the Department of Environmental Protection gaining experience in a wide range of areas dealing with mitigation banks, statutory rewrites, and litigation over the waters to waters transfer rule.
